You can now travel through coffee with the addition of Boarding Pass Coffee in the Renaissance building in Downtown Gainesville.
Boarding Pass Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster run by Murilo and Christine Santos. They opened their first location in 2020 in Milton, offering specialty coffee from Murilo’s family farm in Brazil.
“We focus on coffee from not only Brazil, which is, it's actually really close to home, as well as all other regions around the world that grow coffee,” Christine said.
Their love of travel inspired the theme of their cafes. Their interior is inspired by different modes of transport used for travel such as trains, airplanes, or cruise ships.
The travel theme continues throughout the cafe and onto the menu. The menu has an international twist that brings in “flavors that are authentic to places where the dishes come from,’ according to Christine.
“For example, the Pão de Queijo which is Brazilian cheese bread. It's a very popular snack. The Zoolibia is from a Lebanese baker, a more Middle Eastern vibe. Stroopwafel from Holland,” Christine said.
Boarding Pass Coffee also offers coffee tastings. People can go to Boarding Pass in groups of two or more and try five different coffees side by side.
“So we let you try those, we don't tell you what they are. So it really lets people be present and, you know, not subject to biases that you might have otherwise had,” Christine said.
Boarding Pass Coffee is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
