Baseball playoffs: Commerce, Towns Co., series' moved to Friday

Commerce and Towns County were supposed to get their postseasons under way on Thursday.

Instead, rain across the state has caused both series to be moved to Friday. (Check below for the new schedule.)

The Tigers, a Class A Public semifinalist in 2022, will be the No. 4 seed from Region 8-A Division 1 and will hit the road against Pepperell, the Region 7-A D1 champion, in Rome. The Tigers were part of wild finish in Region 8-A D1 that went down to the final day to determine the playoff seedings.

Towns County finished second in Region 8-A Division 2 and will play host to Mt. Zion-Carroll, the No. 3 seed out of Region 7-A D2.

Both teams will now play doubleheaders on Friday with Game 3s, if necessary, now set for Saturday.


BASEBALL PLAYOFFS, 1st round, Friday, April 28
(Best-of-three series)

Class A Division 1 
Commerce (Region 8, Seed 4) at Pepperell (R7, S1) DH, 2 p.m.

Class A Division 2
Mt. Zion-Carroll (R7, S3, at Towns County (R8, S2) DH, 4 p.m.


BASEBALL PLAYOFFS, 1st round, Satuday, April 29
(Best-of-three series)

Class A Division 1 (Game 3, if necessary)
Commerce (Region 8, Seed 4) at Pepperell (R7, S1), 10 a.m.

Class A Division 2 (Game 3, if necessary)
Mt. Zion-Carroll (R7, S3, at Towns County (R8, S2), 2 p.m.

Commerce, the No. 4 seed from Region 8-A Division 1, will hit the road against Pepperell, the Region 7-A D1 champion, in Rome on Thursday to open their 2023 playoffs.
