Two adults and five children were able to safely escape from a home Monday morning in Habersham County's Hollywood community after the home caught fire.

According to a press release from Habersham County Emergency Services, the home is located at 200 Hollywood Church Road and serves as the pastorium for Hollywood Baptist Church. It is located on the church's property.

Habersham County E-9-1-1 received a call at about 6:17 a.m. reporting a fire on the back porch area of the 2,000-square-foot brick home on a full basement.

Smoke and flames were visible from at least a half-mile away as Habersham County Emergency Services units arrived on the scene and began attacking the fire.

One resident was treated at the scene for minor burns and smoke inhalation, but there were otherwise no injuries. Firefighters remained on scene until 9:16 a.m.

The home suffered heavy damage, but the family was able to salvage some items after the fire was extinguished.

The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office. It is believed to be accidental in nature.
