AAA is issuing a warning for drivers to watch for potholes in Georgia.

A new survey found that the number of drivers who sustained vehicle damage from a pothole requiring a repair soared 57% from 28 million in 2021, to 44 million last year.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group says that, "driving over one of these can cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs."

The average price tag was $406 per repair.

Waiters and AAA recommends to check your tires, which includes tread depth, tire pressure, suspension, and alignment after hitting a pothole for possible damage.

Also, keep your eyes on the road, scanning further ahead than normal along your travel path for road damage and crumbling pavement to avoid hitting potholes.
