ATLANTA, Ga. — It took every Lovett had to knock off Cherokee Bluff, 3-2, in double overtime on Wednesday in the second round of the Class 4A state soccer playoffs.
In regulation, the Lady Bears struck first, scoring on a penalty kick that Kaitlin Cook won, and Anna Gessner finished off for a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the first half.
Lovett answered back with five minutes left in the opening half and added another with 10 minutes to go in the second half for a 2-1 advantage.
Cook, however, tied it up when she launched a kick toward the far right corner just outside the box.
Lovett answered again, though, with six minutes to go in the double overtime for the win.
