BUFORD, Ga. — Class 7A No. 2-ranked Buford rolled past Meadowcreek 4-0 on Tuesday to advance to the second round of the Class 7A tournament.
The Lady Wolves (14-2) led 3-0 at the half. Teresa Metz scored off an assist by Sophia Martelli, Shea Owings made it 2-0 off a pass from Neely Kerr, and Abby Kilman added a penalty kick goal to close out the big first half.
From there, the Buford defense never let the Lady Mustangs (9-5-2) get going on offense in front of keeper Nat Dinh, who got the win in goal.
Sophia Martelli dished out her second assist in the second half on a goal by Evany Torres for the final score of the game.
The Lady Wolves await the winner third-ranked Walton and West Forsyth in the Sweet 16 next week.
LUMPKIN COUNTY 10,
STEPHENS COUNTY 0
The third-ranked Lady Indians (12-1-1) exploded for five goals in each half to advance to the second round in Class 3A.
Nicole Limehouse and Andrea Limehouse each recorded a hat trick for Lumpkin County. Rileigh Raftelis had a brace and Ciera Brooks and Morgan Tatum both tallied a goal as well for the Lady Indians.
Mary Richardson and Maggie Bearden shared the shutout in goal.
Lumpkin County will play the winner of the Bremen-Carver-Atlanta match in the second round next week.
JEFFERSON 7,
CARTERSVILLE 0
The third-ranked Lady Dragons (12-1-1) advanced to the second round in Class 5A after a dominating win at home on Tuesday.
They will play the winner of Wednesday’s Midtown-Chattahoochee showdown next week.

FLOWERY BRANCH 2
Flowery Branch could not hold a halftime lead as Dalton rallied for a 3-2 win in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
The Lady Falcons (12-5) led 2-1 at halftime on the strength of two Sarah Greiner goals, one in the 2nd minute and the other in the 21st minute. Branch led virtually the entire game until the Lady Catamounts (13-5-1) scored twice in the waning minutes, including the game-winner with just five minutes remaining.
Branch could not get the equalizer and was eliminated from the playoffs. Kate Hill played well in goal, recording 12 saves.
The two goals by Greiner tied her with Millie Filson for the all-time career Hall County record of 129.
