A Winder man died Tuesday afternoon after falling while working on the construction site of a new Hall County Elementary School on Ramsey Road, just off Ga. 365.

Hall County Deputy Coroner Kevin Wetzel identified the man as Javier Sanchez, 57.

Angie Kennedy, marketing director with developer Carroll Daniel Construction, said Sanchez was working on the first floor of the school's construction site at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday when he fell from low scaffolding. Police and paramedics responded to the scene.

Kennedy said Sanchez was unresponsive and immediately transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where he was pronounced dead. Officials said they did not believe unsafe practices or foul play were the cause of the accident.

"The entire project team is saddened by this tragic incident and sends heartfelt prayers and sympathies to the crew member’s loved ones," Kennedy said.

Sanchez was employed by a masonry subcontractor.

Wetzel said Sanchez's body was sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
