Smith, Bridges victorious in USCS South Carolina swing

Mark Smith and Johnny Bridges took home top honors in USCS Sprint Car Series competition in the Palmetto State over the weekend.

Smith took the victory on Friday night at South Carolina’s Travelers Rest Speedway, while Bridges was the winner at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Saturday night.

On Friday, Mark Smith topped the field for the win at the 3/8-mile clay Travelers Rest Speedway. Mark Ruel, Jr. followed in second, with Johnny Bridges in third, Lance Moss in fourth, and C.J. Miller in fifth.

Bridges, Smith, and Ryan Roberts won their respective heat races, with Smith scoring the speed dash.

On Saturday, Cherryville, North Carolina’s Johnny Bridges grabbed the lead with five laps to go at Cherokee Speedway and went on to score the victory. Gavan Boschele, Mark Ruel, Jr., Lance Moss, and Danny Smith rounded out the top five.

C.J. Miller, Zane Devault, and Ruel, Jr. won their respective heat races, with Eric Riggins, Jr. winning the speed dash.

The USCS Sprint Car Series returns to action on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. For more information, visit USCSRacing.com.
