Forsyth County has appointed Chief Magistrate Judge Tony Tarnacki as Assistant County Manager of Forsyth County, effective March 27, according to county officials.

Tarnacki will replace former Assistant County Manager Brandon Kenney who served in the role since 2021.

Tarnacki will oversee the county’s Planning and Community Development, Parks & Recreation, Code Enforcement and Animal Services, Senior Services and Public Transportation departments.

“Tony’s experience in management, local government and nearly 15 years spent as Chief Magistrate Judge in North Georgia made him an ideal candidate to help lead Forsyth County’s vision for the future,” County Manager David Mckee said. “We look forward to working with him in this role and we welcome Tony and his family to Forsyth County.”

According to officials, Tarnacki has served as Chief Magistrate Judge for Dawson County Magistrate Court since 2009 and as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Professor at the University of North Georgia since 2013. He has also served as a Juvenile Court Investigator for Dawson County District Attorney’s Office.

Tarnacki has his Juris Doctorate degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, Bachelor of Business Administration and Management degree from UNG and is a graduate of South Forsyth County High School.

Forsyth County officials will announce appointment of a second Assistant County Manager soon, officials said.
