GAINESVILLE, Ga. — North Forsyth smacked three home runs as part of a 10-hit attack in taking a 13-3 win over Gainesville on Thursday in Region 8-6A action at Ivey-Watson Field.
Logan Curry, Jake Prince, and Bryson Germanenko all belted home runs for the Raiders (12-6, 7-0 Region 8-6A) who pushed their win streak to five.
Curry and Prince both hit three-run home runs as part of a 6-run fourth inning that erased a 2-1 Gainesville lead. Germanenko hit a solo shot in the sixth.
The Red Elephants (8-10, 2-6 Region 8-6A) led 2-0 in the second on a North Forsyth error and a RBI single from Anthony Lugo. After the big Raiders fourth, Gainesville cut the lead to 7-3 with a run in the bottom of the innings on another Lugo RBI hit.
North Forsyth blew it open with five runs in the top of the seventh.
Kyle Roper got the win for North Forsyth allowing three runs on five hits in four innings. Gavyn Seitz earned a save pitching the final three innings out of the bullpen.
Freshman Smith McGarvey started for Gainesville giving up seven runs, only six earned, on just three hits but he walked five in 3 1/3 innings.
LUMPKIN COUNTY 9,
GILMER 2
The Indians won their sixth straight game, all in Region 7-3A, behind a six-run third inning on the road.
The Bobcats led 1-0 after plating a run on a Carter Jones RBI single in the bottom of the first. Lumpkin County (14-2, 7-1 Region 7-3A) used the big third inning to grab the lead for good. The Indians scored runs on a fielder's choice by Alejandro Narvaez, a Gilmer error, and a two-run double by Hayden Gilbert.
Cooper Scott hit a two-run home run in the fourth for Lumpkin County.
Adian Rogers got the win for the Indians going five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. Gilbert and Peyton Wood pitched the final two innings in relief.
Ethan McCollum took the loss for Gilmer, surrendering 11 hits and nine runs over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven.
Brock Titus had two hits for Gilmer.
EAST FORSYTH 8,
CHESTATEE 7
The Broncos completed the sweep of the War Eagles on Thursday at Lynn Cottrell Complex.
East Forsyth (12-6, 5-1 Region 8-4A North) used a five-run first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Mason Schreiber and a RBI single by Logan Pedretti. Chestatee (10-9, 3-3 Region 8-4A North) scratched a run back in the bottom of the inning on a RBI groundout from Dylan Thompson.
The War Eagles pulled within 5-3 in the third but East Forsyth extended its lead 8-3 by the sixth. Chestatee stormed back in the bottom of the inning.
A two-run error on the Broncos and RBI singles by Colton Wilbanks and Wesley Gossett got the War Eagles within 8-7. But they stranded a pair of runners and then hit into a double play in the seventh as East Forsyth escaped with the win.
