Once again, there are several crucial matches on tap for Tuesday for Northeast Georgia-area soccer teams.
But none will be bigger than when the Buford and Mill Creek girls face off in Hoschton for a second time this season in a monstrous Region 8-7A showdown. The Lady Wolves (11-1, 6-0 Region 8-7A) are ranked No. 1 in Class 7A and sit atop the region standings. The Lady Hawks (10-1-1, 5-1 Region 8-7A) are ranked second and sit a game behind Buford. The Lady Wolves won the first meeting of the season, 2-1, on Feb. 28 in Buford.
Another big girls matchup has Class 6A No. 9 Jackson County (11-3, 9-0 Region 8-6A) playing host to Habersham Central (10-2, 6-1 Region 8-6A) with a chance to clinch the region title on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers, who have won 10 straight, beat the Lady Raiders 2-1 last month in Mt. Airy in their first meeting.
In Region 8-4A, on the boys, No. 7 Chestatee (10-4, 6-3 Region 8-6A) closes out its region schedule facing a must-win against No. 9 North Oconee (7-3, 6-1 Region 8-6A) on Tuesday at the Lynn Cottrell Complex. North Oconee is tied for second in the region standings with East Hall (10-2, 6-1 Region 8-6A). The War Eagles are in fifth behind Cherokee Bluff (6-7, 4-1 Region 8-6A) and need a win and will need some help over the final two weeks to get into the playoffs with losses already to East Hall and Bluff.
