A fundraiser created by friends of a University of Georgia student who is on life support after suffering a brain hemorrhage while on spring break in Mexico had raised over $120,000 as of Tuesday morning.
According to the GoFundMe page, Liza Burke, a senior at UGA, was spending her last spring break in Cabo San Lucas with a group of friends when the medical emergency happened.
"She woke Friday morning feeling great," Burke's friends wrote on the GoFundMe. "At breakfast, she complained of a headache and went back to the room to rest. A few hours later, her friends called the doctor because they couldn't wake her."
She was rushed to a local hospital where she was diagnosed with Arteriovenous Malformation, also known as AVM. This caused her brain to hemorrhage.
The Mayo Clinic described AVM as "a tangle of blood vessels that irregularly connects arteries and veins, disrupting blood flow and oxygen circulation."
The GoFundMe said Burke was on life-support as of Monday.
"Her family and doctors are working hard to give her the best medical treatment possible," the GoFundMe page reads. "They have agreed that she needs to return to the U.S. immediately to receive expert care from experienced doctors."
WSB-TV reports Burke was back in the United States as of Tuesday morning.
