All but three games on the schedule for Wednesday involve region play as things are beginning to heat up for Northeast Georgia-area baseball teams' quests for the playoffs.

Gainesville (7-4, 1-0 Region 8-6A) is off to a solid start and will play host to Habersham Central  (7-4, 1-1 Region 8-6A) in a key Region 8-6A matchup at Ivey-Watson Field. The Red Elephants can win the season series over the Raiders with a victory. North Forsyth (5-5, 1-0 Region 8-6A) travels to Apalachee also looking for a series win and to stay unbeaten in region play as well.

Region 8-4A will continue its subregion crossover games with No. 1 Cherokee Bluff (9-0, 3-0 Region 8-4A) hitting the road against No. 5 Walnut Grove (8-2, 2-1 Region 8-4A) in a battle of top five teams. However, the Bears will be playing for the third consecutive day. No. 8 North Hall (8-3, 1-2 Region 8-4A) travels to Cedar Shoals (2-7, 0-3 Region 8-4A) while East Forsyth (6-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A) takes on No. 2 North Oconee (7-1, 2-1 Region 8-4A) in Bogart. Chestatee (6-5, 2-1 Region 8-4A) will travel to Seckinger (4-6, 2-1 Region 8-4A).

Buford will travel to rival Dacula in Region 8-7A while Class 3A No. 10 Lumpkin County heads to Cleveland to take on White County to resume their region series. The Indians won the first 8-6 on Tuesday in Dahlonega.
