Demorest fire burns two acres, no one injured

Emergency service units responded to a woods fire Tuesday afternoon on Cannon Bridge Road outside Demorest.

E-911 dispatched Habersham County and Demorest Fire Department crews at approximately 2 p.m. to a woods fire located at 2190 Cannon Bridge Road. Crews from the Cornelia Fire Department and the Georgia Forestry Commission also responded to the call to provide mutual aid.

The fire burned roughly two acres of woodland.

Responding units included HCES Med 12, Tanker 12, Brush 13, Tanker 13, and the public information officer, along with Demorest Engine 5 and Rescue 5, Cornelia Brush 22 and Engine 22, and a GFC plow and truck.

Crews were able to subdue the fire by approximately 2:50 p.m. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire currently remains unknown.
