HOMER, Ga. — The Lakeview Academy boys golf team opened the season by winning the Valhalla Cup hosted by East Hall at Chimney Oaks Golf Club on Saturday.
In a Stableford Points event, the Lions piled up a total score of 147 to win the tournament, which featured a field of 13. Cherokee Bluff (140) finished second, Madison County (130) third, and North Hall (129) took fourth. It was the second time in three years the Lakeview boys won the tournament.
Lakeview was paced to victory by seniors Chandler Lovell (70; 43 points) and Carter Kontur (73; 39 points). Junior Tanner Stephens shot a 76 for 34 points) and senior Henry Stewart finished with a 79 and 31 Points to round out the Lions' qualifying scores.
Lakeview will be back in action next on Saturday in the Raider Invitational hosted by Habersham Central at Apple Mountain Golf Club in Clarkesville.
