RABBITTOWN, Ga. — East Hall scored three goals in a five minute span to blow open a close match for a 4-0 win over Flowery Branch on Tuesday in a Copa 985 league match at East Hall Stadium.
It was the second consecutive shutout for the Vikings (2-1) who also are 2-1 in Copa matches. Flowery Branch (1-2) has dropped two straight, both in Copa league play.
The match was a tight defensive battle most of the first half until East Hall's Yerli Mejia converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute for a 1-0 advantage going into halftime. It stayed that way until the 68th minute when the Vikings offense exploded.
Justin Torres scored off an Eden Castrejon assist and two minutes later Orlin Yanes found the back of the net to push the lead to 3-0. Junior Sesmas closed out the burst with a goal in the 72nd minute.
Wilber Bernal and Kenny Barrera combined for the shutout in goal.
East Hall will play host to West Hall on Friday in another Copa 985 match. Flowery Branch will play host to Dacula on Friday.

The Red Elephants (4-0) stayed unbeaten in Copa 985 play (3-0) after a physically tough win over the War Eagles at Lynn Cottrell Complex.
Miguel Galaviz and Gabriel Ixcoy Calel each scored in the first half to give Gainesville a 2-0 lead by halftime. Ozmar Marceleno added a penalty kick goal in the second half. Hector Aguilar picked up a couple of assists as well for the Red Elephants.
Gainesville coach Eli Viviant said left-winger Pedro José Galindo "had a great performace for us. He was all over the pitch."
Gainesville managed to hold off Chestatee (2-1) despite playing most of the second half with just 10 after a red card for Justin Arriaga. The War Eagles fell to 1-1 in Copa 985 play.
Wilberth Orellana got the shutout in goal for Gainesville.
