A Gwinnett County Public Schools teacher was named the recipient of the 2023 Elizabeth A.H. Green School Educator Award for her impact on string education in her community and state.
Sarah Ball, the North Gwinnett Middle School orchestra teacher who earned the award, was named the winner by the American String Teacher Association (ASTA). The award is presented to one school string teacher with a current and distinguished career in an orchestral setting.
“I am honored to receive the Elizabeth A.H. Green Award from ASTA. I accept this award with a humble heart on behalf of thousands of teachers that change lives every day,” Ball said.
Ball was nominated by her colleagues who described her as passionate and inspiring to her students.
“She has recruited countless numbers of students, mentored many student teachers, inspired hundreds of music educators, and of the highest compliment, she has even had several former students become orchestra teachers to follow in her footsteps,” Ball’s co-teacher, Amy Clement, said.
Ball will be accepting the award in March during a national presentation in Orlando.
