With the 2023 high school soccer season just days old, most Northeast Georgia-area teams will be in action on Friday, highlighted by several Copa 985-league matches.
In the Copa 985 slate, Johnson plays host to Flowery Branch, Habersham Central travels to East Hall, and West Hall heads to Chestatee. Kickoff on all of those matches will begin at 5:30 p.m. with girls action.
The Johnson boys are coming off a state title run in 2022 (Class 5A) and opened the season on Tuesday with a solid 3-1 win over Habersham Central. The East Hall boys, who lost in the Class 4A state semifinals last season, will try to rebound from a 3-2 loss to Gainesville on Monday against Habersham Central tonight. The West Hall boys, also a semifinalist in 2022 (Class 3A) will travel to Chestatee.
On the girls side of things, Buford, a semifinalist in Class 6A in 2022, will play host to last year's Class 7A champion West Forsyth. Cherokee Bluff will entertain 2022 Class A Private state runner-up Holy Innocents' at Yonah Field.
