An Atlanta man is facing a series of charges after he fled from a Georgia State trooper Saturday morning on Old Pendergrass Road in Jackson County.

According to an incident report from the Georgia State Patrol, Jacob Donald Williams, 19, of Atlanta, was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday near downtown Jefferson.

Williams was driving a BMW 328D east on Old Pendergrass Road while actively fleeing from a Georgia State Patrol vehicle. The agency did not release any information about what led to the chase or why Williams was fleeing.

The trooper then used a P.I.T. maneuver to immobilize the BMW near the road's intersection with Ga 11.

Williams was arrested after the vehicle came to a stop. A 17-year-old from Hoschton was also inside the BMW at the time of the incident but is not facing charges.

None of those involved were injured in the incident.

He was booked into the Jackson County Jail and remained there as of Wednesday morning. He was charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless conduct, driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the roadway and a list of other charges.
