All was not merry and bright for a brief time in a larger portion of White County on Christmas morning, Monday, December 25th.

A post on the Habersham EMC social media page says the rainy weather conditions were to blame for a sectional power outage at around 10:30 A.M.  The HEMC's web page outage map showed roughly 25 percent of the customers in White County were affected.

Rapid work and timely efforts by the HEMC workers on Christmas morning were able to restore power to virtually all of the affected customers within a 90 minute period, with power returned to customers before 12:00 Noon.

The HEMC Facebook post thanked their customers for their understanding and cooperation with the effort to restore power.  As of this Tuesday morning, December 26, only about 20 HEMC customers in White were without power, on what is beleived to be separate, non-related outages.
