Bill Maine, executive vice president and general manager of Jacobs Media Corp. / WDUN in Gainesville, was recently named the new chairman of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.

Maine takes over the role from Ray Carter, general manager of WSB in Atlanta.

"It's an honor to be chairing the oldest broadcast association in the country," Maine said. "We're celebrating our 90th year in 2024 with many special events planned. Additionally, our president, Bob Houghton, is retiring after this year so we'll also be searching for someone to fill that role. That will be a challenge because Bob has done such an incredible job in his 13 years with the GAB."

Bob Houghton, president of the GAB, said he was glad to see Maine step into the position.

"Despite the responsibilities and time commitments Bill has in his position at WDUN, Bill has always made time for the GAB," Houghton. "He has been a long-time board member and has served on the GAB Executive Committee as Secretary/Treasurer, Radio Chairman and Chairman-Elect. He also has been a frequent member of the GAB Advocacy team that travels to Washington to meet with our members of Congress. He has been a strong advocate for Radio and the GAB efforts to increase awareness of the value of Digital for all of our radio members. I look forward to working with Bill in my final year as GAB President."

"Jacobs Media / WDUN has had a long tradition of service to the GAB over the past 75 years and we are honored to support and congratulate Bill on becoming Chairman," Jacobs Media President/CEO John W. “Jay” Jacobs III said on Maine's new position.

Maine is also the host of WDUN's Mornings on Maine Street, which airs on weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
