It's an early holiday gift at the gas pumps for the commuters of Georgia this week.
AAA of Georgia says the state's drivers are now paying an average price of $2.96 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, with Monday's state average listed at 7 cents less than a week ago, 12 cents more than a month ago, and 17 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs an average of $44.40 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, which is about $2.55 more than one year ago.
Montrae Waiters of AAA says the national average is at $3.06 per gallon, according to Montrae Waiters of Triple-A, who notes that with 3.3 million Georgians expected to drive during the holiday season, they expect prices to continue downward.
