A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday on a series of charges related to an armed robbery and thefts that were committed in the city earlier in December.
According to Gainesville Police Department Lt. Kevin Holbrook, Sully Berenger Eanes, 22, was charged with felony bribery, two counts of felony financial transaction card theft, felony armed robbery, and two counts of theft by taking. Additional charges are pending.
Eanes allegedly committed a number of entering autos on Tuesday and Wednesday on Green Hunter Lane. He reportedly stole a vehicle and used the victims' financial banking information following the entering autos.
Additionally, investigators believe Eanes committed an armed robbery on the evening of Dec. 4. He allegedly held a victim at gunpoint and stole their phone and wallet. Holbrook did not say where this crime occurred.
After he was arrested, Eanes attempted to bribe an officer to let him go by offering a payment of $15,000.
"We would encourage the public to use this as a reminder to lock your vehicles, take your keys and hide belongings," Holbrook said. "The majority of the entering auto cases we see involve vehicles that are left unlocked with items in plain view. Vehicles should never be left unattended with the keys inside."
