A cutting-edge cold storage facility is in the works for Banks County.
Banks Cold Storage is working with Ti Cold officials of Florida for a new, 210-thousand-square-foot structure in Commerce that will reportedly boast a design rarely seen before in North American facilities.
Banks Cold Storage held the groundbreaking ceremony on November 29. The facility will be poised to support food wholesalers, retailers and food manufacturing customers while bringing nearly 70 new jobs to Banks County when the project is completed by the second quarter of 2025.
Officials with Ti Cold said in a press release that the facility will use low-charge ammonia systems for its cooing facility as an environmentally friendly solution to energy alternatives.
The advanced cold storage complex will feature a flexible, convertible design that can maintain temperatures ranging from 40°F to -20°F.
Structural steel pallet racks will accommodate over 29,520 pallet positions. This includes QFM In-Rack Freezing System™ positions. QFM freezes pallets up to four times faster than traditional blast freezers with the ability to reduce energy consumption by as much as 50%, according to the Ti Cold press release.
