A Lawrenceville man was arrested earlier in December in connection with multiple armed robberies in the Gwinnett County area.
According to a press release from the Gwinnett County Police Department, Aron Castillo, 26, was arrested during a traffic stop on Dec. 1.
The agency said officers responded to a person shot call on Oct. 7 at The Falls Parkway in Duluth. The victim stated he had been shot and his gun had been stolen.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants against Castillo on Nov. 3 for armed robbery, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He was not arrested at that time.
An armed robbery was then reported on Nov. 11 at 3600 Park Colony Drive in Norcross. The victim reported being pistol whipped and robbed of his cell phone and cash. Another armed robbery occurred on Nov. 18 on Sparrows Lane in Norcross. Three victims reported being robbed of their wallets, money and bank cards. During the altercation, one of the victims was shot in the finger. Finally, another armed robbery was reported on Nov. 25 on Sparrows Lane. The victim reported the suspect had stolen a backpack and cash.
Castillo was eventually arrested on Dec. 1.
He was charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, three more counts of Armed Robbery, three more counts of Aggravated Assault, four counts of Possession of a Firearm During a Commission of a Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, Battery, and 24 additional gang charges.
Castillo was being held in the Gwinnett County Jail as of Tuesday morning.
