Six of the seven teams in Region 7-3A face important region contests while Region 8-4A has cross-over day on Tuesday around northeast Georgia.
In Region 8-4A, 10 of the 11 teams are in action around the area. The most interesting matchup on the boys side has East Hall (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-4A North) playing host to Class 4A fifth-ranked Seckinger (6-2, 1-1 Region 8-4A South). The Vikings, who won just seven games all of last season, have been the biggest up-and-comer in the region in the early going. The Jaguars were among the preseason favorites to win the region.
The key game in 7-3A on the girls side has Class 3A No. 5 Dawson County (6-2, 2-0 Region 7-3A) traveling to fourth-ranked Pickens (7-0, 1-0 Region 7-3A) with the winner taking the early lead in the region standings. The Lady Tigers come in riding a three-game win streak.
On the boys side in 7-3A, an intriguing showdown has West Hall (2-5, 1-1 Region 7-3A) heading to Cleveland to take on White County (3-6, 0-1 Region 7-3A). The loser will have two early region losses. A Spartans win would put them within one game of first place.
In Region 8-5A, Jefferson plays host to Flowery Branch in a doubleheader. It is the region opener for Jefferson.
