The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a Thursday evening wreck in unincorporated Lawrenceville that claimed the lives of three people.
A release from the police department said the collision occurred at around 7 p.m. on Scenic Highway and Scenic Pines Drive.
A Kia Sorento carrying three passengers was traveling north on Scenic Highway intending to turn left onto Scenic Pines Drive. The driver of a motorcycle, 27, of Snellville, was traveling south on Scenic Highway.
According to the release, the Kia turned left in the path of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided.
The Kia was carrying a woman, 37, of Loganville and her two sons ages 9 and 14. The mother, 14-year-old son and motorcyclist died of their injuries officials said.
The nine-year-old child was transported to a local hospital.
Both vehicles were impounded at Gwinnett County Police Department headquarters for investigation.
“At this point, it is still unclear who will be listed as the at-fault driver, as speed is being looked into as a contributing factor,” police officials said.
