A Hoschton man was recently arrested after authorities say he fired a weapon in the direction of a construction worker near his home.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Tuesday that deputies were called to the scene on Friendship Road on Thursday, November 30 to a report of a worker being threatened.
When they got to the scene, they questioned multiple people, including Michael Albert Miles, age 58.
"According to what our investigators have been able to uncover up to this point, Mr. Miles was upset with construction workers who had been working on a project near his home," Williams said. "He said they had been blocking his driveway and he was unhappy about that."
Investigators say Miles got into a verbal argument with a female construction worker and told her he was going to his house to retrieve a weapon. The worker then called 911, and while she was on the phone she reportedly heard gunfire.
"(Investigators) determined that he had brought the weapon outside of his home, that he pointed it in the direction of the construction worker and fired it at her," Williams said. "She was not injured, nobody was hit, but after this initial investigation and the questioning, the deputies determined that they would arrest Mr. Miles."
Williams said Miles struggled with the deputies that were attempting to arrest him, but he was taken into custody without anyone being injured. He was booked into the Hall County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault and four misdemeanor obstruction charges.
Miles has since been released from jail on $12,000 bond.
