The Winder City Council approved Atlas Technical Consultants, LLC's engagement for multiple upcoming projects during its November meeting.
The approved projects include a citywide transportation study, and concept plans to redesign the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive intersection at East Midland Avenue.
The Council approved the projects not to exceed $375,000, which is made up of $300,000 in federal funding and $75,000 in local funding, according to a release from the city.
“We are excited to begin this comprehensive evaluation of the City of Winder’s transportation issues, which will include our experts’ evaluations as well as input from our citizens and the public,” City Engineer Gerard Brewer said. “This plan, in conjunction with the recently passed TSPLOST, is the City’s continued effort toward addressing some of the transportation issues in Winder."
The study aims to provide the city of Winder with insights into current traffic patterns, potential areas of improvement, and innovative solutions to enhance mobility and accessibility in the area.
The city said the project’s start date will depend on the release of funding. Public involvement meetings are expected to begin in 2024.
