Former 9th District Georgia Congressman Doug Collins was recently tapped to lead the newly established Georgia chapter of the America First Policy Institute think tank.
In a press release, AFPI said Collins will lead the state's chapter as it works to tackle some of the "ongoing issues plaguing the state, and to bring in ideas that help others thrive."
“At a time when our communities value safety, opportunity, and freedom more than ever before, the commitment of the America First Policy Institute to Georgia demonstrates a determination few entities are willing to consider these days,” Collins said. “As we look to better the lives of all Georgians, I’m honored to be able to use my unique perspective as a lawyer, pastor, former Congressional member, and veteran to help the Institute and state move forward.”
AFPI is a non-profit research institute focused on advancing policies that "put Americans - and Georgians - first."
"AFPI-Georgia recognizes opportunities to enact significant legislation to lower crime and make our communities safer, increase energy independence to reduce our sky-high gas and energy prices, cut taxes, provide more opportunities to parents to choose the best school for their child, and give workers more options to succeed," the release said.
“America First Policies proved to work at the national level, and they are working in dozens of states across our country,” said Brooke Rollins, President and CEO of the America First Policy Institute. “From high crime rates and homelessness to businesses and families struggling to make ends meet, we believe now is the time for the people to demand proven policies that can get the state back on the right track.”
