The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia recently resumed their spay and neuter surgeries at the Healthy Pet Clinic following what they called a global veterinarian shortage.
Healthy Pet Clinic is a full-service veterinary center that offers affordable care to animals throughout the Northeast Georgia region. The clinic had previously halted surgeries in 2021 due to a global veterinarian shortage, according to officials with the organization.
Now, with a full-staffed veterinary team, the clinic is resuming spay and neutering services via appointment. They are also offering preventative treatment and health screenings.
“The Healthy Pet Clinic’s commitment to both pets and their owners is a testament to our mission of helping animals and people live better together,” President and CEO Allison Mayfield said. “Providing affordable veterinary care, particularly spay and neuter surgery, is critical in helping us improve the health and well-being of pets throughout our community. We look forward to serving northeast Georgia and promoting responsible pet ownership through our Healthy Pet Clinic.”
The Christian-David Healthy Pet Clinc opened in 2018 and has served over 45,000 families and 61,000 animals.
Their services include annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, discounted preventative medication, dental care and nutritional guidance. Spaying and neutering are the most important aspects of promoting animal welfare, according to officials.
“Spaying and neutering are the most important aspects of controlling the animal overpopulation crisis,” Dr. Michelle Cox, DVM, said. “Not only does it reduce the number of healthy dogs and cats euthanized each year, but it provides several medical and behavioral benefits to enhance the pet’s quality of life. We look forward to once again making a significant impact on animal overpopulation through the clinic’s affordable spay and neuter surgeries.”
The clinic is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only, with spaying and neutering services available Tuesday through Friday.
