Buford City Schools released new details Friday pertaining to an online threat directed at Buford High School which led to a soft lockdown of all schools in the system on Tuesday.

A spokesperson with Buford City Schools identified the man who made the online threat as Michael Daniel Pecoits.

Pecoits reportedly made the threat on the social media platform Snapchat. The threat said "Buford High School. Good luck" with a photo of an assault rifle in a case.

The threat was made Monday evening, but the school system was not notified until after that.

Pecoits was arrested on the Buford Middle School campus. The spokesperson said he was at the middle school to turn himself in to authorities.

He was not a former student of the Buford City School System.

Pecoits was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail following his arrest.
