Football playoffs: NHall roughed up by Stockbridge in opening round

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — North Hall saw its season come to an end in a rough 48-0 loss to Stockbridge in the opening round of the Class 4A state playoffs on Saturday.

The Trojans high-flying offense was held to 80 total yards, and just 19 yards rushing, for the game by the Tigers (9-2). Meanwhile, the Stockbridge offense piled up 500 yards of offense for the game, including 326 on the ground on just 30 rushes (10.8 yards/carry).

Stockbridge led just 6-0 late in the first quarter on a 61-yard touchdown pass from Cobey Hopkins. But they got a 99-yard touchdown run from Jayden Scott late in the first quarter to jump out to a 13-0 by the end of the opening frame. The Tigers scored on a touchdown run early in the second and got two more TD passes from Hopkins and a touchdown run from Hopkins as time expired in the second quarter to blow the game open for a 41-0 halftime lead.

Quarterback Tanner Marsh finished his career for North Hall going 8-for-14 for 67 yards with 2 interceptions. Ryals Puryear had 3 catches for 41 yards.

Scott had 192 yards  and 2 TDs on 10 carries for Stockbridge.  Hopkins was 10-of-16 for 141 yards and 2 TDs passing for the Tigers.
