COVINGTON, Ga. — Jefferson passed and rushed for touchdowns en route to a 35-0 win over Eastside on Thursday night.
With the win, the Dragons (10-0, 6-0 Region 8-5A) completed the perfect regular season and captured their second straight Region 8-5A championship. It's also Jefferson's fourth region title in five seasons.
Jefferson running back and Clemson-commit Sammy Brown rushed in for the first of his three touchdowns from one yard out to give the Dragons the lead, 7-0, with 6:07 left in the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, Gavin Markey started the Dragons' scoring with a 30-yard touchdown to Zay Minish to extend the lead 14-0.
The Dragons led 14-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Brown crossed the goal line with 10:57 left to push the Dragons ahead, 21-0.
Markey then connected with Minish again for a 31-yard scoring strike with 7:42 left in the third.
Brown tacked on the Dragons' final score late in the third quarter to go up, 35-0.
The Dragons will be the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A playoffs.
