A shooting incident at a Towns County home Monday sent a Hiawassee man to the hospital and another to jail.
Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson's office says they received a call on Monday for a person with a gunshot wound at a home on Kimsey Cove Road.
Upon arrival, deputies became involved in a standoff with the shooting suspect, Melvin Linn Masters, Jr., 45, who was armed and had outstanding warrants.
Deputies eventually distracted, disarmed and arrested Masters on felony aggravated assault, illegal drug and firearms possession and obstruction of an officer charges.
A Towns County Sheriff's Office social media post said the unidentified 31-year old male shooting victim from Hiawassee was taken to Chatuge Regional Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
