Gwinnett County Public Schools recently awarded eight middle school students with REACH scholarships, providing $10,000 to go toward a HOPE-eligible school.
The eight scholars who were identified to receive the scholarship are all in eighth grade and have been supported throughout their education toward high school graduation, Gwinnett School officials said Thursday.
The REACH Georgia Scholarship Program is a needs-based mentoring program that finds and supports promising students as they navigate high school and head into postsecondary education.
REACH scholars are traditionally paired with a mentor who models positive behavior and provides the student with knowledge, advice, guidance and support. Each of the scholars is also reportedly paired with a school counselor who serves as an academic coach and monitors the student’s success.
The eight students who received the honor are included in the list below:
- Danna Ruiz- Magana — Berkmar MS
- Aydan Daniel — Coleman MS
- Celeste Guarnieri — Creekland MS
- Camila Salinas — Duluth MS
- Keren Mulumba — Jones MS
- Oscar Acosta Jr. — Osborne MS
- Joshua Hall — Sweetwater MS
- Kori Moore — Twin Rivers
