A teenager from Hartwell has been arrested on several charges, including criminal attempt to commit murder, for allegedly shooting three people at a gathering on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Hart County Sheriff's Office, Tyler Avant Carter, 19, was arrested Thursday afternoon.
The agency said deputies responded just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday to the area of Nancy Hart School Road for a person shot call. Arriving deputies found a large gathering of people and determined at least two people had been shot. Authorities also determined a third person had been shot and had left the scene and was on their way to the hospital.
After the shooting, one male victim and one female victim were taken to Anmed Hospital in Anderson South Carolina, and have since been released. The other female victim was taken to Prisma Health Greenville by helicopter and is in stable condition.
Carter was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop on Georgia 172 near Bio Church Road in Hart County. He was charged with aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit feticide and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
