The city of Winder announced Tuesday that its water customers who are also Barrow County Sewer Customers will see adjustments in their fees beginning this month.
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners recently approved new water and sewer rates effective July 1, 2023.
All Barrow sewer customer usage will be billed at a rate of $5.85 per thousand gallons along with an additional monthly $5 pump station operation & maintenance fee.
The city said for those who are Barrow County wastewater customers, their city utility billing statement will still show the "Barrow Sewer Fee" but will now show an additional line item for "Pump Station O&M Fee".
The city bills on behalf of the county for some sewer service areas and remits the collected funds back to the county as a part of a contractual agreement between the two.
A release from the city stated it was not aware of the reason for the additional monthly charges.
