Gold Creek Foods held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to unveil its new Gold Creek Center in downtown Gainesville.
The Georgia-based poultry company will soon move several leadership and front-office staff into the former Peach State Bank & Trust building that overlooks the intersection of West Academy and Washington streets.
Gold Creek CEO and founder Mark Sosbee said the new headquarters is a return to the company’s early days.
“In our earliest days, before we were called Gold Creek Foods, we had office space in Gainesville, so this is like a homecoming for us,” he said. “We’re proud of the investment we’re making in this headquarters because it means so much to our team and to our community.”
The 18,882-square-foot building located at 325 Washington St. SW, Gainesville, was originally constructed in 2005. Shonda Sosebee and Joe Mattocks of Gold Creek worked with Gaineville-based Carroll Daniel to transform the space, according to a press release from the company.
“The building has been updated and transformed on every floor, including the addition of more break rooms and bathrooms,” the release read. “One innovation is the switch glass in the oval meeting room. Because it’s located in the center of the first floor, it needed a way to ensure privacy at times. With the flick of a switch, it will turn from clear to frosted glass.”
The company also transformed the former bank’s drive-through teller and vault into usable office space.
The building will hold 46 team members who will move in this fall, however, the Gold Creek Center will be able to accommodate over 60 employees in the future.
Gold Creek Foods came to Gainesville originally in 2000. In 2021, the company had 2,300 employees but now has a workforce of almost 4,000.
Sosbee reflected on the company’s history and its next steps.
"I’m so proud of the company we’ve built. Not only do we have multiple poultry processing facilities across Georgia, we’ve also grown across state lines into Tennessee,” he said. “We know this new headquarters will continue to inspire our team to be the best at what we do.”
