A Gilmer County man was arrested Wednesday after a multi-agency investigation resulted in a search warrant where officials seized illegal drugs and a stock of firearms.
Jacob Davis, 44, was arrested Wednesday after officials from the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) and Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant near Old Flat Creek Road south of Ellijay. Officials reportedly seized 638 grams of methamphetamine and 33 firearms. One of the weapons was stolen out of Fannin County.
Fannin County officials reviewed reports and determined several other of Davis’ firearms were stolen items from a previous burglary. Detectives also located a storage container with an “unusual amount of power tools.” The tools were also found to be tied to previous Fannin County burglaries.
According to a Facebook post made by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, Davis was arrested at the scene and taken to the County Adult Detention Center. He was allegedly charged with Trafficking Methamphetamines and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
“Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and ARDEO are continuing to make as big of a dent as possible in the illegal drug trade in North Georgia,” Sheriff Nicholson said. “This case also demonstrates the exceptional coordinated effort of GCSO with surrounding agencies."
