It will be another busy day on the hardwood on Tuesday, as 23 of the 26 schools covered by AccessWDUN will be in action -- and all involve critical region play.

There are some key matchups across the eight Georgia High School Association classifications, and in GIAA and GAPPS, involving Northeast Georgia-area teams. Still, none will be bigger than the massive showdown in Cleveland. The Class 3A fourth-ranked White County girls (15-3, 5-0 Region 7-3A) will play host to third-ranked Lumpkin County (14-3, 4-1 Region 7-3A) with first place on the line.

The Lady Warriors can jump two games ahead of the Lady Indians in the standings and already own a win over No. 2 Wesleyan (14-2, 4-1 Region 7-3A). Meanwhile, Wesleyan plays host to a young and improving Dawson County (9-8, 2-3 Region 7-3A) group.

Banks County will travel to Providence Christian with only the boys game counting for region standings, as the Lady Storm are not playing a region schedule this season. But the boys game looms large. Class 2A third-ranked Providence Christian (15-2, 4-0 Region 8-2A) has won 10 straight and leads both Union County (11-6, 2-1 Region 8-2A) and Banks County (12-6, 2-1 Region 8-2A) for first place. A Leopards win could put them within one-half game of first place. The Panthers, who have won three straight, travel to Fellowship Christian (1-13, 0-2 Region 8-2A).

In Region 8-5A, Jefferson is off. However, Flowery Branch travels to Clarke Central with a chance for both Falcons teams to stay among the leaders.

It’s crossover day in Region 8-4A. In the case of tiebreakers, the games only count in region standings at the end of the season. But the East Hall boys (4-14, 2-4 Region 8-4A Sub A) have won three straight, including a huge win over North Hall on Friday. They travel to a rebuilding Cedar Shoals squad (4-14, 0-5 Region 8-4A Sub B).

In Region 8-A Division 1, the fourth-ranked Rabun County girls (15-1, 1-0 Region 8-A Division 1) put a 7-game win streak on the line against a good Athens Christian team (10-5, 0-1 Region 8-A D1), which lost to No. 3 Elbert County (15-3, 2-0 Region 8-A D1) on Friday.

In the GIAA AAAA/AAA District 4, the Lakeview Academy boys (8-9, 1-0 GIAA AAAA/AAA District 4) will play host to George Walton (13-5, 2-0 GIAA AAAA/AAA District 4) with first place on the line. The Bulldogs are riding a 4-game win streak. The Lions have won two straight.
