Twenty of the 26 Northeast Georgia-area schools covered by AccessWDUN will be in action on Tuesday with 28 of the 30 scheduled games involving region play.

There are several crucial region matchups involving area teams throughout the eight GHSA classifications. In Region 8-7A, Buford entertains Mill Creek in a pair of games involving unbeaten teams in region play. The Buford boys come in ranked eighth and the Lady Wolves fifth.

In Region 8-6A, Shiloh travels to North Forsyth. The Lady Raiders are unbeaten in region play while the Shiloh boys also are perfect in the early going. Gainesville plays host to Apalachee with both Red Elephant teams looking to stay unbeaten.

In Region 8-5A, Flowery Branch plays host to Loganville while Jefferson heads to Heritage-Conyers. The unbeaten Loganville girls sit a game ahead of both the Lady Falcons and Lady Dragons and a Jefferson win and a Branch win could create a three-way tie atop the standings. On the boys side, Eastside leads Jefferson and Branch by 1 1/2-games. The Eagles travel to Winder-Barrow, who is just one-half game behind them in the standings.

In Region 8-4A, the big matchup in Subregion A on the boys side has Chestatee going to Cherokee Bluff in a battle of unbeaten teams. The winner will lay claim to the top spot for now. On the girls side, the North Hall girls play host to East Forsyth in a battle for third place while Chestatee leads both North Hall and Bluff by one game. The Lady Bears and North Hall can move into a tie for first with wins.

In Region 7-3A, five teams are within one game of first place on the girls side, with Class 3A No. 2 White County still perfect. The Lady Warriors will have Pickens on Tuesday at home with a chance to pad their lead. However, Lumpkin County and Dawson County meet in Dahlonega with a chance to tie for first or take the region lead with victories. On the boys side, first place White County can stay perfect with a win over Pickens, who is a game back in third. Second-place West Hall is idle.

In Region 8-2A, Banks County travels to Union County with the No. 4 Lady Leopards looking to move into a tie for first with idle Athens Academy.

Region 8-A Division 1 will open its region schedule Tuesday with fifth-ranked Rabun County traveling to Commerce in girls action.
