GAINESVILLE, Ga — Lee Shaw has resigned as head football coach at Lakeview Academy after three seasons to take over the same position at Metter High School in south Georgia.

Shaw led the Lions to a 12-17 record in three seasons with two playoff appearances. He came to Lakeview Academy two seasons after stepping down at Rabun County, where he led the Wildcats to five Region 8-2A titles, four state quarterfinal appearances, and one state championship game (Class 2A) in 2017.

Shaw made the announcement on Friday and issued a statement through a press release:

“I would like to thank Head of Schools, John Simpson, the school board and Athletic Director, Deuce Roark, for giving me the opportunity to build Lakeview Academy’s football team into a competitive program," Shaw said. "I have enjoyed coaching these young men and building lifelong relationships. I very much appreciate the football coaching staff’s loyalty as well as the Lakeview community’s support during my tenure there.

"Let me assure everyone that Lakeview football is in great shape and I’m sure the administration will find my replacement and that the future head football coach will be the best fit for Lakeview Academy’s football needs."

Lakeview Academy moved over the GISA for the 2022 season and went 6-5 following a first round playoff loss to Heritage-Newnan.
