A man was found dead Wednesday evening inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood.
According to Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch, Jonathan Jones, 29, was found deceased in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
Police responded at about 6 p.m. to the area initially for a call of an apparent cardiac arrest. They then found Jones dead inside a silver Hyundai parked on the side of the business near the tire service area.
Hatch said they received information from someone who knew Jones claiming that he was homeless and had been sleeping in a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot.
Authorities are investigating the cause of death. Hatch said there were not any overt signs or indicators of foul play. An autopsy will be performed.
Hatch said store video footage showed Jones drove into the parking lot on Jan. 1, but they were unaware of whether he left the car on foot and came back to the vehicle between his arrival to the area and eventual passing.
Hatch said the family had been notified.
