GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Gainesville has hired former Brenau golf coach Jason DeJiacomo to take over the Gainesville boys program.
DeJiacomo takes over a program that won its 38th region championship in 2022 while finishing second at state in Class 6A.
DeJiacomo comes to the Red Elephants from the college ranks, having served as head coach of the women’s and men’s programs at Birmingham Southern (2014-2017) and the women’s programs at both Brenau (2017-2021) and SCAD (2021-2022).
At both Birmingham Southern and Brenau, DeJiacomo guided three previously unranked teams into the GolfStat Top 25 while coaching seven All-Americans and nine all-conference golfers.
In his final match at SCAD, DeJiacomo’s Bees finished second out of 10 teams in the AAC Fall Championship.
A native of Jasper, DeJiacomo played college golf at Berry, where he earned All-Conference honors in the Southern States Athletic Conference and also earned All-Region honors, finishing second individually in both his junior and senior seasons in the region championships.
He helped Berry to four appearances in the NAIA National Championships and capped off his senior season by leading the team to both conference and region championships and a fifth-place finish in nationals.
