Northeast Georgia area basketball teams are wasting no time in jumping into, or beginning, their all-important region schedules coming out of the Christmas tournament season.
Half of the programs covered by AccessWDUN will be in region action on Tuesday, with several others winding down their non-region schedules.
Region 8-4A Subregion A will have to two huge games on tap, especially on the girls side. Cherokee Bluff (10-3, 3-0 Region 8-4A) plays host to North Hall (9-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A) with the Lady Bears looking to stay perched atop the subregion. The two teams met in the Lanierland Tournament last week with the Lady Trojans taking a 65-56 win. Chestatee (10-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A) plays host to East Hall (3-10, 1-3 Region 8-4A). North Hall and Chestatee can create a three-way tie atop the standings with wins.
On the boys side in Region 8-4A Subregion A, Cherokee Bluff (10-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A), Chestatee (9-4, 2-1 Region 8-4A), and North Hall (8-5, 2-1 Region 8-4A) all are tied atop the early standings. The Trojans head to Bluff while Chestatee plays host to a struggling East Hall (1-11, 0-4 Region 8-4A) squad.
In Region 8-5A, the Jefferson girls (3-10, 2-0 Region 8-5A) will look to stay atop of the region at home against Eastside (6-4, 210 Region 8-5A) while the Jefferson boys (4-8, 1-1 Region 8-5A) take on the region-leading Eagles (12-1, 3-0 Region 8-5A), who have won 11 straight. In Flowery Branch, the boys (11-2, 1-1 Region 8-5A) play host to Winder-Barrow (9-7, 2-1 Region 8-5A) looking to move up a spot in the standings while the Lady Falcons (8-6, 1-1 Region 8-5A) will try to avoid an upset against the Lady Bulldoggs (2-13, 0-3 Region 8-5A).

Gainesville, fresh of a sweep of the Lanierland Tournament, and Habersham Central will open their Region 8-6A schedules on Friday against each other in Mt. Airy.
Region 8-2A will open its region schedule as well, with a huge game right out of the gate as East Jackson travels to Banks County. The Lady Leopards are ranked fourth in Class 2A. Union County will travel to Providence Christian to things started in 8-2A.
