CLEVELAND, Ga. — Dawson County's defense shut down White County from the opening drive en route to a 31-0 win at Warrior Stadium on Thursday.
The Tigers (4-2, 2-0 Region 7-3A) held White County (2-3, 0-1 Region 7-3A) to 88 yards of offense.
Dawson County's Christian Webb set the tone early when he picked off Tripp Nix's first pass of the game. It was the first of two picks for Webb.
Dawson County had four on the night, two of which they cashed in for points.
It was a sluggish first half for both teams, however.
Dawson broke the goose egg with some trickery, a hook and ladder play that saw Matt Bennett scamper 48 yards for the touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
That was the only TD in the half for either team.
In the second half, the Tigers scored 17 points, 10 off turnovers, in the third quarter.
Davis Glass scored on a 5-yard run; Dominic Leblanc nailed a 33-yard field goal, and Kenny Nelson ripped off a 38-yard TD run to push the lead, 24-0, at the end of the third quarter.
Nelson added the Tigers' final score on a 75-yard Pick 6, 31-0. Nelson finished four carries for 44 yards.
Kade Moledor led the Tigers rushing attack with 107 yards on 16 carries. Meanwhile, Glass was 6-of-12 for 114 yards and a touchdown passing. He also added another 71 yards rushing and a score.
