Authorities arrested a Loganville man this week for the alleged murder of his mother in Forsyth County.

According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Christopher Pino, 39, was being held in the Forsyth County Jail without bond as of Wednesday. Pino was charged with one count of felony murder for the death of his mother, Tresa Slate, 61.

Deputies responded to a medical call in the area of Frank Boyd Road in Forsyth County at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. An elderly man told responders he could not wake up Slate, who live in the home. Deputies later determined Slate was dead and potentially was the subject of foul play.

The cause of death was later declared a homicide after a lengthy investigation by major crimes detectives with the consultation of the medical examiner. The investigation also identified Pino as the suspect in the death.

Pino was located in Gainesville the next day and arrested without incident. Pino also had an active warrant out of Virginia for a theft charge.

The case remained under investigation as of last report.
