A personal security app called Noonlight is credited with the safe recovery early Tuesday of a woman being held against her will in a vehicle traveling on Ga. 365.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Wurtz said that about 5:20 a.m. Habersham County Dispatch was notified that a person was in distress and needed help from officers.
Deputies were alerted to watch for a gray sedan headed north on Ga. 365 in Habersham County.
The app gives live data to the dispatcher on the GPS location of the person in distress.
Habersham County deputies pulled over the car on Ga. 15 near Antioch Church Road.
Dalton Ramsey of Buckhannon, W. Va., and the female passenger were separated by deputies, and the woman told deputies the driver was holding her in the vehicle against her will, Wurtz said.
Ramsey was arrested and is charged with false imprisonment.
The investigation is ongoing.
