TIGER Ga. — The rumors of a struggling Rabun County offense were just that -- rumors.

The Class A Division 1 fourth-ranked Wildcats set a new program-record in points after routing Class 3A 10th-ranked Adairsville 72-36 Friday night at Frank Snyder Stadium.

The 72 points surpassed the old mark of 71 set in 2020 in a win over Banks County. Rabun County (3-0) scored 70 twice, against Pickens (SC) in 2021 and East Jackson in 2020.

After scoring just 7 in a 14-7 win over Stephens County last week, questions about perhaps a drop off in 2022 were floating around. Questions answered.

Rabun County scored on 12 of its 13 possessions through the first three quarters, including a 38-yard field goal from Marc Remillard to end the third quarter.

The Wildcats’ scored on their first three possessions -- a pair of Jaden Gibson touchdown catches of 20 and 64 yards and a 34-yard strike to Willie Goodwyn -- from Keegan Stover in the 6 1/2 minutes.

After an Adairsville touchdown, Stover and Gibson struck again on a 32-yard scoring pass for a 28-7 lead. The Wildcats eventually led 42-21 at halftime on a Lang Windham touchdown run of 38 yards and two more Stover TD passes, this to Noah Legault of 30 and 15 yards.

By the time the smoke cleared at the end of the third quarter, Rabun County led 72-28 and had piled up most of its 608 yards of offense. Stover had 8 TD passes and a career-high 465 yards passing. Gibson had 10 catches for 182 yards and 4 TDs.

Legault had 4 receptions for 114 yards and 2 TDs and Goodwyn had 3 catches for 102 yards and 2 TDs. Windham finished with 142 yards and 2 TDs rushing.

Adairsville (1-1) was no slouch on the offensive end either. The Tigers finished with 457 yards, 369 yards on the ground. Remarkably, there were no turnovers in the game from either offense.
